Tigers' duo of Kaze Teffo Giscard Etienne and Mushthafa Kamal
are doubtful for this match due to hamstring injuries. While

BEDOK, 21 February: Geylang United came from behind to defeat
Balestier Khalsa 2-1 in their opening match of the season.
The Tigers surprised the home team with a 1-0 lead at half-time
through a header by Japanese import Haruki Seto. The Eagles
came back after the interval with two goals from Aide Iskandar
(49th) and Masrezwan Masturi (70th).

(Week 1) : Geylang United FC vs Balestier Khalsa FC:: TOA PAYOH, 20 February: A new-look youthful Balestier
Khalsa FC will begin its season with an away trip to Bedok
Stadium on Thursday, 21 February. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
Matches between both teams have always been tight with the
Tigers going away with one win and three draws in their last
four visits to Bedok since 2005. Midfielders Nawfal Shahib
and Anantha Rajan will miss the opening weeks of the season
as both are recovering from injuries sustained during the
pre-season.

season officially launched:: SINGAPORE, 18 February: The 13th edition of the
NTUC Income-YEOS S.League got off to a rip-roaring start
with one of the biggest S.League Fan Fares ever at the Jalan
Besar Stadium on Sunday, 17 February 2008.
The day was kicked off by a team of 100 youth activists from
Young NTUC Singapore s largest youth movement
delivering a bespoken cheer in support of Singapore
s bid to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2010.
The events Guest-of-Honour, Associate Professor Ho
Peng Kee, President FAS and Senior Minister of State for Law
& Home Affairs then officially launched the 2008 NTUC
Income-YEOS S.League season following the symbolic lion
dance performance by the Yi Wei Athletic Association.
Associate Professor Ho and the Welcome Party made up of Mr
Kim Joong Keun (Ambassador of Republic of Korea), Miss Caroline
Fernandez (Head of Public Relations, NTUC Income), Miss Wong
Lye Yin (Marketing Manager for Yeo Hiap Seng, Singapore),
Mr Winston Lee (Chief Executive Officer, S.League) and Mr
Steven Yeo (General Secretary, FAS) also signed a specially-designed
banner supporting Singapores bid to host the Youth Olympics.
The evening then saw 2007 Double Winners Singapore Armed
Forces FC taking home the inaugural Singapore Charity Shield
after beating rivals Home United 5-4 on penalty kicks in front
of a crowd of 4,544.
Kengne Ludovick gave the Protectors the lead in the 69th
minute before substitute Ashrin Shariff equalised for SAFFC
from the spot with four minutes left.
Ludovick who went first for Home in the shoot-out
saw his effort swatted away by Shahril Jantan.
Warriors skipper Duric, John Wilkinson, Ashrin, Daniel Bennett
all converted for SAFFC before Hafiz Osman slotted home the
winning spot kick past Lionel Lewis.
Duric received the Shield and the $5,000 cheque which the
team will donate to their adopted charity - Handicaps Welfare
Association - from Associate Professor John Koh, FAS Vice
President in the post-match presentation.

choreographed cheer.

their autographs at their respective club booths in what is
certain to be the biggest Fan Fare in S.League history?
The curtain-raiser will be a friendly match between the Singapore
Celebrity Sports Club and the Korean Celebrity Team at 5.00pm.
All the afternoon's events will build up towards the main
course the inaugural Singapore Charity Shield match,
featuring 2007 Double Winners SAFFC against league runners-up
Home United.
