BANGKOK, SINGAPORE, Sunday, 17th January 2010 – SYAQIR SULAIMAN made his international debut for Singapore in the opening of 40th King’s Cup match against Thailand. Syaqir came on as a substitute in the 65th minute for Tengku Mushadad. Thailand won 1-0.

TOA PAYOH, SINGAPORE, Friday, 15th January 2010 – UNCAPPED Syaqir Sulaiman has left with Singapore national 'A' team for 40th King's Cup in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

TOA PAYOH, SINGAPORE, Thursday, 14th January 2010 – UTILITY Syaqir Sulaiman has been called up by the national coach Radojko Avramovic for his "A" team for the 40th King's Cup in Bangkok from 16 January to 23 January 2010. Syaqir is the first Balestier player to be named in the senior squad since February 2004 when Sazali Salleh featured in the match against India in 2006 Pre-World Cup Qualifying, Asia.

TOA PAYOH, SINGAPORE, Monday, 4th January 2010 – BALESTIER KHALSA FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Salim Moin as part of the club's technical panel. The 48-years-old joined the club after finishing a two-year contract with the Football Association of Singapore as National Football Academy coach with Under-17 and Under-18 squads.
Salim started coaching in 1996 with National Football League side Tampines Rovers SC, and later moved to S-League club Gombak United FC where he handled the Centre of Excellence, Prime League and S.League teams.

During his playing days, Salim represented Singapore at international, national and age-group levels. He played in the prestigous South East Asian Games in 1981, 1983, 1985 and 1989, with his team winning the silver medal on three occasions in 1983, 1985 and 1989. At club level, he played for National Football League clubs Mountbatten FC, Singapore Armed Forces SA, Jubilee SA, Farrer Park United FC, Tampines Rovers SC and Premier League clubs Geylang International FC and Tiong Bahru CSC. During his stint Geylang International, he won the Premier League title in 1988, 1989, 1990, Pools Cup in 1988, National Players' Shield in 1988, 1990 and President's Cup in 1990.

On a sour note, Salim was banned from all football activities for six years for assaulting referee in a President's Cup match at Jalan Besar Stadium on 15 September 1983. The ban was later reduced to two years and he returned in October 1985 to play for the national team in the Merlion Cup where the team finished joint champions with Yugoslavia Under-18.

CHOA CHU KANG, SINGAPORE, Sunday, 3rd January 2010 – BALESTIER KHALSA FC played its first pre-season friendly match at Choa Chu Kang Stadium, home of S.League champions Singapore Armed Forces FC on a wet Saturday evening.

Balestier Tigers started the match with an all-local line-up. Its former midfielder Rhysh Roshan Rai put the SAF Warriors one up in the 33rd minute. Poh Yifeng equalised in the 40th minute. The first half ended 1-1.

Coaches from two camps made changes to their teams in the second half. Ex-Albirex Niigata FC captain Taisuke Akiyoshu netted the second goal in the 72nd minute. Eight minutes from time, Singapore international midfielder John Wilkinson, who will be suspended for the national team's match against IR Iran on Wednesday, scored Warriors' third goal from a free-kick. The final score read SAF 3 Balestier Khalsa 1.

TOA PAYOH, SINGAPORE, Saturday, 2nd January 2010 – BALESTIER KHALSA FC have resumed training after a day's rest due to New Year's Day.

During the off-season, the Tigers have signed goalkeeper Ahmadulhaq Che Omar (28), defender Hammond Daniel Joseph (24) and midfielder Kamal Nasir A Haja (26) from Woodlands Wellington FC.

Goalkeeper Sim Wei Zhi, Joey (22) from Sengkang Punggol FC and utility Goh Swee Swee (23) from Young Lions have also joined the club.
Defenders K Sathiaraj (23), Sofiyan Abdul Hamid (24) and Mushthafa Kamal (25), midfielders Han Yiguang (24), Anantha Rajan (23), Syaqir Sulaiman (23), K Vikraman (27), Poh Yifeng (23) have been retained from last season's S.League squad for the new campaign.

TOA PAYOH, SINGAPORE, Friday, 1st January 2010 – BALESTIER KHALSA FC have released last season's captain Jufri Taha (age 24) to S.League runners-up Tampines Rovers FC and second vice-captain Rhysh Roshan Rai (24) to S.League champions Singapore Armed Forces FC for the coming season, schedule to start on Monday, 1st February. First choice goalkeeper Hafez Mawasi (26) has joined Woodlands Wellington FC.
The other locals dropped for the new season are goalkeeper Abdul Rasyid Hamid (28), defender Sahairi Ramri (22), midfielders Mahmod Hashim (26), Ram Shanker (24) and Faizal Amir (25).
The foreign players - Chilean Cid Lagos Julio Eduardo (26), South Koreans Oh Ddogyi (25), Jun Jin (22), Oh Inkyun (23) and Australian Jamie Alan Pitt (21) have also been released.
